Shimano - Baitrunner DL 4000 FB Reel
The Shimano Baitrunner DL 4000 FB is a freespool reel designed for carp, specimen, and light predator legering. The Quick Fire II baitrunner lever sits at the rear of the reel, allowing the freespool function to be engaged or disengaged with the thumb without taking a hand off the rod.
When engaged, the baitrunner system disengages the main drag on a take, letting line run freely under light secondary tension. Turning the handle re-engages the front drag instantly, ready for the strike.
The reel runs on 1 ball bearing and 1 roller bearing with Varispeed II oscillation and Dyna-Balance counter-balancing for a smooth, even retrieve. The cold-forged Power Aluminium spool features an AR-C lip designed to improve casting distance and reduce wind knots on the cast.
The 4000 size suits 12lb to 15lb monofilament mainlines and pairs well with carp rods of 2.75lb to 3lb test curve. Line capacity is 280m of 0.30mm mono. Gear ratio is 5.0:1 with 80cm retrieve per handle turn. The handle is reversible for left or right-hand wind.
